Ahh, how the time flies! Yes I'm way more involved in Twitter now, and liking it a LOT! I'll figure out the little "follow me" button eventually... not today. Today I have a huge list of things to catch up on - all business related. I'm considering joining the Handmade Highway since it looks quite interesting and I think I might fit in nicely there. I also found a more internationally based Etsy-type online venue called DaWanda. It's pretty small-time, but by the fact that it's based in Europe sparks my curiosity. I'm not put off by international shipping or correspondence, and from what I've learned Europeans have a healthy appreciation for batik, and this site certainly could use some of my fine batik artwork to spruce it up. A couple of recognizable Etsy sellers have stores there as well - Deadworry, Idea2Lifestyle, Aphelee - but not much more than that from my brief overview of the site yesterday. It's only me I'm thinking about here. I wouldn't recommend it for everyone trying to sell their handmade goodies, unless one were specifically interested in an overseas market, which I am.
I'm also putting more energy into Facebook. I'm not sure how well it's paying off yet, but it does provide some good info, connections and general exposure for my artwork. I have made a few sales via Facebook, and I found Handmade Highway through the site. Social networking is amazing that way, but sometimes it takes a while to show it's reward. Mostly I'm finding Facebook as a valuable resource for info and an easy way to strengthen my web presence.
That's all for today.
Batik artist on Etsy and beyond. Lives in the Pacific Northwest, loves it.

Beginning With Twitter
I tried to add a "tweet this" link but it didn't work. I'm finding out that you can't believe everything you find on Twitter. Not everything. Some things are okay.
I kept getting followed by these self help/entrepreneur/life coaching/selling me something Twitters (twits) and it was pretty frustrating, so I change my profile and then NO ONE was following me. Then I started losing followers! So... it's a process. I changed it again 10 more times and then I got a new one I like yesterday so I'm on the right track.
Plus I linked it to my website, not directly to Etsy.
Well... online sales have picked up. Gotta go - a house full of fussers right now!
